Introducing Maruti Suzuki’s Latest Marvel: The S-Cross Hatchback

The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross first debuted at the Auto Expo 2020 earlier this year. After that, it was initially expected to launch in March 2020 in India but owing to the sudden coronavirus outbreak, the plan was delayed. But finally after waiting for so many months,

Maruti Suzuki has finally decided to schedule the launch of the brand new crossover SUV. The car hit stores on in August 2020 and they confirmed that they would be offering their customers a brush of exclusivity even though initially nobody had the slightest idea of what that might entail. But now everyone knows better.

With a token of only ₹11,000 through online booking or by visiting the nearest dealership, buyers can bring this NEXA bad boy to their home. Unlike its diesel predecessors, the 2020 S-Cross sports a robust four-cylinder and 1.5-liter petrol engine S Cross that produces 138 Nm and 105-PS of power.

Shashank Srivastava, the Executive Director of MSIL had commented that there would be over 1.25 lakh potential customers for its masculine design, stylish and premium interiors. And, right now, the car is making a nice headway towards that very goal. The S Cross SUV is regarded as a flagship product of the NEXA portfolio and Suzuki is optimistic about the new SUV to win their customers’ trust and confidence.

Let us take a quick look at some of the specs.

Drive With Passion and In Fashion

You wanted color, Suzuki gave you color. Available in five color options, Granite Grey, Premium Silver, Pearl Arctic White, Nexa Blue, and Caffeine Brown. There is no doubt that the cars look as exotic as the colors sound. Witness a fine combination of comfort and technology with the Nexa S Cross. It is complemented with leather upholstery, climate control, dual front airbags, touchscreen infotainment system, height adjustment options of the driver seat, and more.

The SmartPlay Studio is integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. So, whether you have short legs or long, you can be sure that you will have a safe, comfortable ride every time you are behind the steering wheel. Perfect to take both your friends and family for a ride, the panoramic sunroof will surely catch everyone’s eye. In addition to that, the transmission system has two alternatives, a four-speed AGS or a five-speed manual transmission. However, even after considering all the additions like cruise control, engine push-button start, alloy wheels, LED headlamps, and auto-folding ORVMs, there is not much of a facelift in this model.

But, if you are an ardent nature lover, you would love to opt for this urban SUV that incorporates a lithium-ion battery, featuring its Smart-Hybrid dual-battery technology. The second battery is situated under the passenger’s seat at the front. Although there are no details available about the fuel economy, it can be expected that the S-Cross manual returns a mileage of 20 kmpl. The S-Cross comes in 7 different variants, Alpha, Zeta, Delta, Delta ZT, Alpha ZT, Zeta AT, and Sigma. And the good news is, most of the variants feature an automatic transmission.

Wrapping Up

Keeping the specifications in mind, the Nexa SUV has a price range of ₹8.5 lakh to 12 lakh (ex-showroom). It is going to compete with its well-known contemporaries, the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, and Nissan Kicks. Hence, it is pretty clear that Maruti Suzuki surely has a lot of work to do in the marketing department. The only considerable upper hand that the S-Cross has is the mild hybrid tech. However, as crossover SUVs are dominating the global trend, all of us can expect that the S-Cross will be confronted with a good number of sales after its launch.
