Get Ready to Be Wow-ed: The Kia Sonet Roars onto the Scene

Kia Motors is one of the most famous automobile companies to come out of South Korea. Only second to Hyundai in scale, and also minorly owned by the same, Kia has caused a sensation with the launch of their Kia Seltos model. Followed by the Kia Seltos and the Kia Carnival, the brand is now ready to introduce their new car in India – Kia Sonet.

The Kia Sonet has a sleek design along with more attractive and SUV-like looks than the previous Kia cars. With many more upgraded interior features & safety technologies, it is rivaling the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue iMT & Maruti Vitara Brezza. The subcompact SUV is set to release on August 7, 2020.

Exploring the Marvellous Kia Sonet

The third of Kia cars to be officially launched in India, the Kia Sonet was first introduced at the Auto Expo 2020. As the near-final production model seems to be near-identical to the original concepts, let’s take a look at what Kia is set to offer in its latest car.

– Elegant Exterior

The new Kia Sonet features a plush and attractive look with colours having a chrome finish to them. This new model sports projector headlamps comprising LED DRLs with LED tail lamps as well. In addition to sporting a tiger-nose grille, the Kia Sonet also features roof rails, double exhaust tips, door handles that are integrated into a coherent style factor. Lastly, the upcoming car sports dual-tone large alloy wheels for smoother drives.

– Classy Interior

The interior of the Kia Sonet comes with a beige & black finish while the leather seats inside will have double-stitched red piping. The model has a big sunroof as well as ambient lighting facilities during the night.  At the centre stands a ventilated console on top of which there’s the massive 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system of Kia that features sick screen qualities like in the Seltos model. The Kia Sonet features the Bose premium sound system, automatic climate control along with the newest version of the UVO software and a voice assistant. With AC vents for the passengers both at the front and the back, the Kia Sonet also includes adjustable headrests.

– Upgraded Engine

The Kia Sonet packs a BS6 compliant engine with an engine displacement of 1499cc. The 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol engine comes equipped with a 5-speed manual with IMT options. The 1.5L turbo-diesel unit offers a 6-speed manual as well as an automatic one delivering 99bhp power and 240Nm torque.  Finally, a 1L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine will also be available along with a 7-speed DCT in the GT-Line model.

– Ultimate Safety

With safety being a key element in cars, Kia Sonet hides with 6 airbags for passenger protection. It will also consist of various ‘Drive Modes’, a clutchless gearbox, and a multifunction steering wheel. Apart from anti-lock brakes, the new car is supposed to have a 360-degree camera and reverse parking sensors, among many other advanced assistive technologies, to help out the driver in tricky situations. Besides, the latest model also offers keyless entry to the car for the driver.

– Affordable Price

The Kia Sonet is expected to be priced at Rs. 8 lakhs when launched. For the upgraded interior, internet connectivity facilities, and other safety technologies, the price is quite reasonable and affordable. At such a price, the Kia Sonet is facing little competition in the subcompact SUV category it is aiming for.

Conclusion

On its way to take the automobile market by storm, the Kia Sonet has already created a great amount of hype among enthusiasts. It’s expected that the demand will be high considering the class-leading facilities and features it comes with at such an affordable price range. Kia’s new car will fully adhere to the ‘Made in India’ initiative.
