Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled a teaser for its upcoming performance-focused model, the Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS. This new variant is expected to hit the Indian market soon, offering enthusiasts a thrilling modern classic experience.
Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS: A New Flagship Modern Classic
The Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS is set to become the flagship modern classic in Triumph’s lineup, especially following the discontinuation of the Triumph 1200. This performance-oriented model is based on the existing Speed Twin 1200, which was updated in 2021 and is currently available in India.
Design and Performance Enhancements
The teaser for the Speed Twin 1200 RS showcases a striking new orange color scheme and prominent RS badging. While it will retain the 1200 cc parallel-twin engine from the current Speed Twin, the RS version is expected to deliver enhanced performance, potentially offering a higher power output similar to the Thruxton’s 105 hp. The current Speed Twin produces 100 hp and 112 Nm of torque.
The RS model will likely feature top-of-the-line components, including Showa suspension forks and Ohlins rear shock absorbers with a piggyback reservoir, enhancing its performance and handling. The existing Speed Twin 1200 comes equipped with high-quality cycle parts like 43 mm Marzocchi USD forks, twin shock absorbers, and Brembo M50 monobloc piston calipers.
Pricing and Launch Expectations
The Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS is anticipated to be priced between ₹11.8 lakh and ₹12 lakh. This places it slightly above the current Speed Twin 1200, which is priced at ₹11.09 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model is expected to launch in India within the coming months, offering a blend of classic style and modern performance.
With its enhanced features and performance upgrades, the Speed Twin 1200 RS is poised to attract motorcycle enthusiasts seeking a premium, performance-focused ride.
