Triumph Daytona 660 Launched in India at ₹ 9.72 Lakh: A New Supersport Contender

Triumph Motorcycles has reintroduced the Daytona nameplate in India with the launch of the Triumph Daytona 660, priced at ₹ 9.72 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks the third model based on Triumph’s versatile 660 cc in-line triple engine platform, following the Trident 660 and the Tiger Sport 660. With its competitive pricing, the Daytona 660 positions itself as a strong contender in the supersport segment, directly challenging rivals like the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Aprilia RS 660.

The Triumph Daytona 660 is priced₹ 27,000 higher than the Tiger Sport 660 and₹ 1.6 lakh more than the Trident 660. Despite this price difference, the Daytona 660 offers a blend of performance, design, and technology that sets it apart from its siblings.

The 660 cc triple engine on the Daytona 660 delivers 95 hp at 11,250 rpm and 69 Nm of peak torque at 8,250 rpm. According to Triumph, 80% of the torque is available from as low as 3,125 rpm, providing a robust and responsive ride experience. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a torque assist clutch for smoother gear shifts. The superbike also features a newly designed exhaust system with 3-into-1 headers and a compact underslung silencer, enhancing both performance and the engine’s signature exhaust note.

The 2024 Daytona 660 shares its circular instrument cluster with the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660. Riders can choose from three riding modes—Rain, Road, and Sport—allowing for a customized ride experience based on road conditions. Safety is prioritized with dual-channel ABS as a standard feature.

The bike’s suspension setup includes a rear monoshock with preload adjustment and 41 mm separate function, big-piston forks at the front, sourced from Showa. Stopping power is ensured by twin 321 mm disc brakes at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear, providing excellent braking performance for spirited riding.

In terms of design, the Daytona 660 pays homage to the older Daytona 675 but with a more refined and modern look. The sharp front fairing, scooped-out seat, and robust rear section combine to create a visually striking motorcycle that retains the essence of its predecessor while offering a fresh appeal.

With its competitive pricing, advanced features, and iconic design, the Triumph Daytona 660 is set to attract enthusiasts looking for a balance of performance and style in the supersport category.
