Skoda is gearing up for the unveiling of its first fully electric SUV, the Skoda Elroq, with its global debut scheduled for October 1, 2024, in Prague. The company recently released a teaser, offering a glimpse of this highly anticipated electric SUV, which will initially launch in Europe before reaching other markets.
The Skoda Elroq will be built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, marking a significant milestone as the brand’s first fully electric compact SUV. The teaser sketches reveal a modern and sleek design, following Skoda’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language.
Striking Design of the Skoda Elroq Electric SUV
The teaser showcases the Skoda Elroq’s sharp front-end design, featuring slim cubed LED daytime running lights (DRLs) paired with boomerang-shaped matrix LED headlights. This front design, known as the “Tech-Deck face,” gives the SUV a futuristic look. The Skoda Elroq also sports the brand’s new logo in dark chrome, prominently displayed on the bonnet. The SUV will debut a stunning Timiano Green color, adding to its unique appeal.
At the rear, the Skoda Elroq stands out with a sleek roof spoiler and slim LED taillights. Dark chrome accents and centrally positioned Skoda lettering on the tailgate further enhance the SUV’s premium design. The 2D Skoda logo on the alloy wheels adds a touch of sophistication, completing the look of this new electric vehicle.
Powertrain Options and Impressive Range
The Skoda Elroq is expected to offer four powertrain variants, providing options for different driving needs. The powertrains will include:
- A 55 kWh battery with a 125 kW motor
- A 63 kWh battery with a 150 kW motor
- An 82 kWh battery paired with either a 210 kW motor or a dual-motor setup offering 220 kW.
With the largest battery capacity, the Skoda Elroq is expected to deliver a range of up to 560 km on a full charge, making it one of the top choices among electric SUVs for long-range driving.
Skoda Elroq Global and Indian Market Plans
While the Skoda Elroq will first be introduced in Europe, it remains unclear whether the company will launch the electric SUV in India. However, before the Elroq’s debut in the Indian market, Skoda is likely to introduce the Kylaq compact SUV, which will compete with popular models such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Nissan Magnite.
With its Skoda Elroq, the brand is set to make a significant impact on the growing electric vehicle market, further enhancing its portfolio of electric cars.
