2025 MG Astor Hybrid Unveiled Globally: A Sneak Peek at What’s New

British carmaker Morris Garages has globally unveiled the updated 2025 MG Astor (known as the ZS in international markets) featuring a hybrid powertrain, enhanced design, and a host of new features. This update marks a significant step forward for MG in the competitive SUV segment, blending performance with efficiency. As JSW-MG Motor India gears up, the possibility of the new Astor making its way to Indian roads soon cannot be ignored.

Hybrid Powertrain:

At the heart of the 2025 MG Astor is a robust hybrid powertrain. The system combines a 1.5-liter petrol engine, producing 102 PS and 128 Nm of torque, with an electric motor that adds 136 PS and 250 Nm. The total output of this hybrid setup reaches an impressive 195 PS and 465 Nm, allowing the SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.7 seconds. With a top speed of 167 kmph, the Astor hybrid offers a thrilling yet efficient driving experience. Drivers can also choose from three distinct drive modes, along with multiple levels of energy recuperation to optimize performance.

Design Updates:

The MG Astor has undergone significant design changes, giving it a sportier and more modern appearance. The front fascia now features a redesigned grille, new LED projector headlights, and sleek daytime running lights, all contributing to a fresh and dynamic look. The rear lights have also been updated to match the vehicle’s contemporary design language. The Astor hybrid is available in six vibrant colors: Arctic White, Black Pearl, Monument Silver, Hampstead Grey, Battersea Blue, and Dynamic Red. Customers can also choose between 17-inch and 18-inch wheel options, depending on the variant.

Safety and Features:

The MG Astor Hybrid will be available in two trims: SE and Trophy. The Trophy trim offers a luxurious experience with black leather upholstery, a 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Safety is a top priority in the Astor Hybrid, with Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) included as standard. Key safety features include active emergency braking, lane keep assist with departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additionally, the Astor Hybrid comes with six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, and hill start assist, ensuring a secure driving experience.

India Launch and Expectations:

JSW-MG Motor India is expected to introduce the updated MG Astor hybrid to the Indian market in 2025. This move will position the Astor as a strong contender against hybrid offerings like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. With its advanced features and hybrid powertrain, the Astor Hybrid is likely to be priced around ₹ 20 lakh (ex-showroom), making it an attractive option in the luxury SUV segment.

As the anticipation builds for the MG Astor’s arrival in India, it’s clear that this SUV is set to make a significant impact on the market, offering a blend of power, efficiency, and cutting-edge technology.
