Citroen C3 Automatic Launched at ₹10 Lakh: Taking on Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger with Torque Converter Transmission

Citroen India has introduced an exciting update for its popular compact SUV, the Citroen C3. Two years after its initial debut in 2022, the French automaker has launched the Citroen C3 Automatic variant, featuring a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This makes Citroen the only brand in its segment to offer a torque converter automatic gearbox, setting it apart from competitors like the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.

Key Specifications of the Citroen C3 Automatic

The Citroen C3 Automatic comes with a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This engine delivers 110hp and 205Nm of peak torque, paired with the smooth 6-speed Aisin gearbox found in other Citroen models like the C3 Aircross and Basalt. The C3 turbo petrol variant offers a fuel efficiency of 18.3 kmpl, ensuring a balance between performance and economy, with a 30-liter fuel tank capacity.

Buyers can choose the automatic transmission only in the top-spec Shine variant, which is priced at ₹10 lakh. Additional packs like the Vibe Pack are available at ₹10.12 lakh, while dual-tone options start at ₹10.25 lakh and go up to ₹10.27 lakh with the dual-tone Vibe Pack. This pricing adds a ₹85,000 premium over the manual variants, a reasonable upgrade for the convenience of an automatic gearbox.

Citroen C3 Features Update

Recently, Citroen updated the C3 to include a variety of premium features. The top-spec Shine variant now comes equipped with LED projector headlights, electrically adjustable ORVMs, automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. For tech-savvy users, the 7-inch digital TFT instrument cluster with a tachometer enhances the driving experience.

Competing with Rivals

With the new automatic variant, the Citroen C3 sets itself up to rival strong competitors like the Tata Punch, Maruti Swift, and Maruti Ignis. Its direct competitors in the 5-seater compact SUV segment include the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. While many brands in this segment stick to AMT gearboxes, Citroen’s torque converter automatic sets it apart in terms of driving experience and performance.

Conclusion

For buyers looking for a 5-seater car with a stylish design, refined driving experience, and now the added convenience of an automatic transmission, the Citroen C3 offers an attractive option. With the competitive pricing and the inclusion of premium features, Citroen is looking to draw more customers into its La Maison showrooms and further strengthen its foothold in the Indian auto market. If you are considering new cars, especially in the compact SUV segment, the Citroen C3 automatic deserves a test drive.
