BMW F 900 GS and F 900 GSA launched in India: Prices start at ₹ 13.75 lakh

BMW Motorrad India has officially launched the F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure in India, expanding its adventure motorcycle portfolio. The F 900 GS is priced at ₹ 13.75 lakh, while the more rugged F 900 GS Adventure (GSA) comes in at ₹ 14.75 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom and mark the successors to the F 850 GS and F 850 GS Adventure, which were previously priced at ₹ 12.95 lakh and ₹ 13.75 lakh, respectively.

Power-packed 895 cc Engine

Both the F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure feature an upgraded 895 cc parallel-twin engine, delivering 105 hp at 8,500 rpm and 93 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. This engine represents a noticeable improvement over the F 850 series, providing an additional 10 hp and 1 Nm more torque. The motorcycles are equipped with a 6-speed gearbox and a bi-directional quick-shifter, ensuring a smoother and faster gear-shifting experience, ideal for both adventure riding and everyday use.

Distinctive Features for Both Models

The F 900 GS stands out with its 14.5-liter fuel tank, while the F 900 GS Adventure boasts a larger 23-liter tank, perfect for long-distance journeys. Weighing 27 kg less than the Adventure variant, the F 900 GS tips the scale at 219 kg, making it significantly lighter and more agile than many bikes in its segment. On the other hand, the F 900 GS Adventure weighs 246 kg and comes with a bulkier body and road-biased tires, making it better suited for touring and long-distance adventures.

Off-road capability and advanced suspension

Both motorcycles are equipped with advanced off-road features, including ABS, cornering ABS, traction control, and multiple riding modes. Riders can monitor these features on a 6.5-inch TFT screen. The F 900 GS borrows its headlight design from the G 310 R, a surprising yet practical design choice. Both models come with 43 mm Showa upside-down forks (USD) with 230 mm travel at the front and a monoshock at the rear with 215 mm travel, ensuring excellent off-road performance. However, the F 900 GS Adventure adds electronically adjustable suspension, tailored for long-distance touring comfort.

A Lean Machine for Adventure

The F 900 GS is a lightweight, off-road-focused bike with fully adjustable USD forks and a monoshock, making it a nimble option for rough terrains. The F 900 GS Adventure, on the other hand, is built for endurance with its larger fuel tank, enhanced suspension, and touring-friendly features. Both models are equipped with 305 mm dual discs at the front and a 265 mm disc at the rear for reliable stopping power.

Competition in the Adventure Bike Segment

These motorcycles are designed to compete with top adventure bikes like the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally, Honda XL7450 Transalp, Ducati DesertX, and Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE. With their upgraded engines, refined features, and competitive pricing, the BMW F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure offer riders a thrilling mix of performance, comfort, and off-road capability.
